My first experience with Prince of Persia was the GameGear version. Since then I have been addicted to the platforming elements of PoP games. The Sands of Time (PC version) was my first taste of the 3D changeover and boy it was addicting. Even knowing what to do was an adventure simply knowing you had to have 'perfect' execution to pull off the stunts and platforming. No other PoP game has really found that formula again but The Forgotten Sands comes the closest to date.Gameplay: It is prince of persia. If you have played any previous game then you know what to expect really. You are the dashing Prince and once again find yourself in a situation where time manipulation is required for you to save the day! This time around instead of just the ability to rewind time for the most part Ubisoft has switched it up considerably. You now can rewind time, freeze water, remember collapsed objects and even threw in some basic RPG elements. Once you get the hang of the controls through a well thought-out tutorial the game tests your puzzle solving skills. That is what PoP are all about. You are in a room, fight some bad guys and then figure out how you are going to get out of there/advance. Early on things seem simple and a PoP pro would be chuckling but once all the elements come together... be prepared. You will sweat as you have to micromanage countless buttons all at the same time, switching what you are doing in mid jump while dealing with projectiles etc. Classic prince of persia platforming!Sound/Story: The story isn't half bad. While not as powerful or strong as the original Sands of Time that captured the hearts of many old PoP fans and made a ton of new fans, the story isn't over bearing. It is there but not forced upon you at every turn. The sound is not bad and I have no complaints with the game. The voice acting is spot on and sets the tone.Graphics/Presentation: graphically the game is pretty good. It isn't ground breaking or jaw dropping but it is good enough that in 720p the game looks nice. The platforming aspects are well thought-out and get harder as you go along thus the game gets harder and continues to challenge you as you move along. However this negatively impacted replay I feel(see below)Length/Replay: While the game isn't very long (easily under 7hrs) you can lose track of time while playing. The game is fun, simple as that. It is one of those games, especially if you like platforming or puzzle solving, that will keep you scratching your head and curious what might lie around the next corner. Add hidden 'sarcophagus' items and a exp/leveling system you can definitely find some replay value in the game. The exp you spent carries over into the next game as well so you can fully unlock the Prince's potential. The downside is, once you've unlocked everything, found all those sarcophagus' etc.. there really is no reason to return to the game (unlike the original sands of time). The platforming suddenly will feel far to easy until the last moment since the game baby-steps your way along. I still got a full replay out of the gameSummary of "cons" I have for this game (with positive re-enforcement)- Baby stepping your way through makes a replay seem far to easy. Can almost blow through the game on a replay in half the time especially since you can't de-level.. thus starting at a high level and can just own anything in your path [in a way this works because if you simply want to have fun platforming the mobs you fight won't slow you down]- Not one glitch!!!(PS3 version) not a con but a definite PLUS as everyone hates a game breaking bug/glitchOverall Score: 86%A must have for any platform junkie or Prince of Persia fanatic. I was not dissapointed and can proudly say that I achieved a PLATINUM trophy for this game. While not the best Prince of Persia game I've played it certainly was one of the more enjoyable games. (bought this title when it was $30)
